Fractional CMO · Interim Leader · Advisor

I help companies build growth engines that scale.

Maybe you’re building a real growth engine for the first time. Maybe the one you have is straining as you scale, what used to work is delivering less every quarter, or your marketing leader just left. I’ve spent 20+ years inside exactly those moments, from $1M startups to Amazon Prime.

In all of those moments, my work starts the same way: asking a lot of questions. Growth problems rarely live in one channel or one team, so I look across the whole business for what’s actually in the way. Then I fix it with the team.

When companies bring me in

Four situations where experienced growth leadership makes the biggest difference.

Build

You have a strong product and early traction, but growth still depends on a few people, a few channels, or a lot of improvising.

I turn that momentum into a repeatable engine with clear priorities, the right capabilities, and, if needed, a team that can run it.

Scale

Growth is working, but the system behind it is starting to strain as the business adds customers, channels, markets, or complexity.

I strengthen the engine without burying the team in process or losing what made it work in the first place.

Amazon Prime · Global Business Leader, Prime Acquisition

Reset

The team is working hard, but the playbook that got you here is delivering less. Channels are getting more expensive, the economics have changed, or nobody can agree on what is actually working.

I find what changed, cut work that no longer earns its place, and rebuild the parts of the growth system that are holding the business back.

WordPress.com · VP, Growth Product & Marketing

4× conversion growth while reducing CPA by 50% after replacing blanket discounting with propensity-based incentives.

Lead through transition

Your marketing leader has left, the last hire didn’t stick, or the business cannot afford to lose momentum while it decides what comes next.

I keep the work moving, figure out what the company actually needs from the role, and make sure whoever comes next inherits a stronger function and a clearer mandate. Sometimes that next person is a full-time CMO. Sometimes it turns out you don’t need one yet.

$50M+ in annual revenue driven by growth strategies my team and I executed during a planned seven-month leadership transition.

Let’s talk

My point of view

Growth belongs to the whole company.

Growth is not a marketing target. It is a company target. Marketing has a big role to play, but it cannot fix a product people do not want, a sales process that breaks down, an onboarding experience that loses customers, or economics that do not work. Every team shapes growth, whether they call it that or not.

When growth slows, blaming marketing usually sends the team after symptoms. And the real cause is rarely one dramatic thing. It’s usually a handful of smaller problems feeding each other. I look across the business to find the real constraints, then help the team fix them.

The difference

Why work with me and not another marketing leader?

A fractional or interim engagement is not a lighter version of the full-time job. You may only need part of my time. You should still get full ownership of the problem, plus fresh eyes on the things people inside the business have learned to work around.

I dig into the whole business before I prescribe anything, because the metric that’s hurting is rarely the thing that’s broken. Then I build the fix with your team instead of leaving a deck behind.

There’s also a technical depth to my work that most marketing leaders rent from an agency or a data team. I’ve spent more than a decade building propensity models and predictive targeting myself, at Amazon Prime, WordPress.com, and in digital health. And I’ve done this work everywhere from $1M startups to $100B+ giants, so there’s a good chance I’ve seen some version of your problem before.

Three of the companies that brought me in on a fractional or interim basis ended up offering me the full-time job. I think that says as much about how I work with teams as it does about the results.

How I work

Understand first. Then move fast.

Every engagement starts the same way: I learn how your business actually works before I prescribe anything. From there, the first 90 days follow a simple shape. Diagnose what is really slowing growth, prove what moves it with fast, focused tests, then scale what works into a plan your team can run.

Ways to work together

The right kind of help depends on what your business needs now.

I have a habit of asking “why?” one more time, usually about the thing half the team is already wondering.
